How digital lock works













There are few majors type of digital lock authentications;

Numerical codes
This is the most prevalent form of electronic lock.

This is the most prevalent form of electronic lock. The correct code must be entered in order for the lock to deactivate. Such locks typically provide a keypad, and some feature an audible response to each press. Combination lengths are usually between 4 and 6 digits long. Modern design usually come with touch screen rather than keypad.  The screen lights up when it is touch.

A variation on this design involves the user entering the correct password.  Yale use a fussy input logic.  This prevent others obtain your pin code in your proximity.

Security tokens
Another means of authenticating users is to require them to scan or “swipe” a security token such as a smart card or similar, the electronic token may be stored in your smart phone and connected to your lock through bluetooth NFC.  You use place your phone near to the lock, it will automatically activate the unlocking.

Biometrics
As biometrics become more and more prominent as a recognized means of positive identification, their use in security systems increases. This including using of fingerprint, or retinal scanning and iris scanning.  For residential use, fingerprint is the cheapest solution.  The chances for error scanning is 1 in a millions.  It is the most practical and secure way as compare to other authentication methods.

RFID
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of an object (typically referred to as an RFID tag). This technology is also used in modern electronic locks.
